Damp Reducing Porridge to Strengthen the Spleen and Stomach


Ancient Chinese food therapy is the foundation of Chinese medicine. It has long been said, “First, let thy food be thy medicine”. This porridge is a classic dessert soup all over China and super easy to make with many medicinal properties.

Ingredients: Adzuki Bean*, Buckwheat*, Jobs Tears*, Orange Peel*, Tremella Mushroom

Channels: Lung, Kidney, Spleen, Liver

Properties: Warm, Sweet

Actions: Nourish Blood, Beautify skin, Drain dampness, Support digestion

Directions: Soak all ingredients, except for the orange peels, for 8 hours or overnight. Drain ingredients and combine in a pot or a slow cooker with 6-8 cups of water or nut milk (for a sweet option) or bone broth (for a savory option). If you opt sweet, you can add honey, brown sugar, goji berries or dates to sweeten. In the last 30 minutes of cooking, add the orange peels.
